Bambi Hair Simulations from The Ant Bully

As part of the character finaling team working on The Ant Bully at DNA Productions, I built CG hairstyles for many of the human characters in the film, as well as running dynamic cloth and hair simulations. We built the hairstyles in Maya using a system we developed in house at DNA Productions. We started modeling the hair in proprietary software developed for use with Houdini, but ultimately we chose to use Maya for the rest because of the speed and efficiency of the simulations. Other examples of my CG hair include Lucas, the main character, Mommo, Lucas’ grandmother, and bullies Steve and Shigeko.
